Re/Creation Annual Summer Get Together
Every summer, the collective steps away from the virtual table where we have our weekly meets and dare to step into the sun for a day of fun. Initially squinting in the rays, our eyes go wide as the fam comes together. And it isn’t long before we realize why we’ve become a fam that encompasses far more than the Re/Creation mission statement.
This year, under the wise guidance of our Sonny Jackson, we’re gathering at one of Brooklyn’s most famous destinations, Coney Island.
Located at 1208 Surf Avenue, Coney Island has existed since 1880 and was once the largest amusement park in the country. Admittedly, it can seem small in the world of Great Adventure and Disney World, but Coney is still a New York gem. It attracts millions of people a year and even today manages to be charming, exciting, and a great way to share time with family and friends.
So, mark August 26th on the calendar. Re/Creation and their friends will be in the house. They’ll be food and fun and great conversation. If you get a moment, stop by. We’d love to see you!
Mother's Day Card Writing
On Monday April 26th at 7 pm Re/Creation is hosting a virtual card-writing event to send notes, cards and emails to women in prison in celebration of Mother’s Day. Help us reach through the walls to honor these women and remind them they are in our minds and hearts.
At the event, we will share names of incarcerated women who would like to receive your email or physical letters or cards. You can download a card image directly from our website, add your own personal message, and connect with others who wish to send a message of appreciation. At the end of the event, you’ll send your messages directly to your designated recipient.
